Delete a Tag
Remove a tag that is no longer needed. The devices previously carrying the tag are not deleted — they just lose that one tag.
danger
Deletion is irreversible. If you need the tag later, you will have to recreate it and reapply it to all affected devices by hand.
Steps
- Click Tags in the sidebar.
- Select the tag you want to delete from the list on the left.
- Click the red bin icon in the top-right corner of the tag detail pane.
- Confirm by clicking Yes in the Remove tag confirmation dialog, or No / ✕ to cancel.

What happens to tagged devices?
| Field on affected devices | Effect |
|---|---|
| The deleted tag | Removed from every device that carried it. |
| Other tags | Untouched. Devices with multiple tags keep their remaining tags. |
| Device history | A Tag removed event is added per device. |
| Tags filter chip | The deleted tag disappears from the dropdown. |
| Dashboard Tags summary | The tag column is removed from the chart. |
Tip: re-enables the Create button
If you were at your plan's tag limit (e.g., 4/4 on Free), deleting a tag immediately re-enables the + Create Tag button — the Limit reached banner disappears.
Alternatives to deletion
| Situation | Recommended action |
|---|---|
| Tag just needs a different color or name | Open the tag and click Edit — this preserves all device associations. |
| Tag is temporarily irrelevant | Leave it in place. An empty tag (0 devices) has no impact on the Dashboard. |
| Consolidating two near-duplicate tags | Bulk-retag the affected devices to the canonical tag, then delete the duplicate. |
