Create a New Category
Categories group devices by type (Laptop, Monitor, iPhone, Switch, β¦) and β when combined with Attributes β give you a structured way to capture the fields that matter for each type.
Categories Page Overview
The Categories page is your at-a-glance view of how your inventory breaks down by device type. It's also where you add, edit, and remove categories.
Add Attributes to an Existing Category
Attributes are extra fields that appear on every device in a category β CPU and RAM on a Laptop, IMEI on a Mobile, Screen size on a Monitor. You can define them when you first create the category (see Create a New Category), or add them later as your inventory practice evolves. This page covers the later case.
Assign a Category to a Device
Categories take a device from "thing with a name" to a structured inventory record. You'll usually pick a category when you first create a device, but reassigning later is just as quick.
Where Categories Appear on Devices
Once a category is assigned to a device, you see it in three places β designed so you always know what type of device you're looking at without opening it.
Delete a Category
Remove a category that is no longer needed. The devices that belonged to the category are not deleted β they become uncategorized and can be reassigned to another category.
Delete a Category Attribute
Remove a single attribute (CPU, RAM, IMEIβ¦) from a category without deleting the category itself.
