Create Category Metadata

Metadata lets you attach structured properties to a category (e.g., screen size, RAM). To add metadata:

1. While creating or editing a category, click the blue plus sign below the category name field to add a new metadata row.

2. Enter a metadata name (2--25 characters, no unsupported special characters).

3. Optionally, enter a prefix (up to 5 characters).

4. Optionally, enter a suffix (up to 5 characters).

5. Select a data type from the drop-down menu: Number, Text, or Date.

6. Use the input switch next to the data type to mark the field as required or optional when adding a new device.

7. To remove a metadata field, click the red X icon next to it.

8. Use the toggle switch to show the metadata value in the device name on the Devices page.

9. Click Save to apply your changes.

Each category supports a maximum of 6 metadata fields.

You can also add metadata to an existing category by clicking the pencil icon on the category tile to open the edit view.
