Create category metadata

To add more specific information to a category, you can create category metadata by following these steps:

1. When you creating a category and after entering the category name, click on the blue plus sign located in the middle of the screen to add new metadata.

2. Enter the name of the metadata (property name) that you would like to add (e.g. screen size). The data name should be at least 2 characters long but no longer than 25 characters, and it should not include any special characters that are not supported.

3. Optionally, you can enter a prefix for the data name with a maximum of 5 characters.

4. Optionally, you can enter a suffix for the data name with a maximum of 5 characters.

5. From the drop-down menu, select the data type (number, text, or date).

6. You can choose whether the metadata is a required or optional field when adding a new device. Use the input switch next to the metadata type to make your selection. This feature can be applied to each category metadata.

7. If you change your mind, you can remove the selected metadata.

8. If you want the metadata to be displayed in the device name on the Devices page, use the toggle switch to turn on this feature.

9. Save the metadata.

Please note that you can add a maximum of 6 metadata fields to each category.

You can also create metadata for an existing category. On the selected category tile click to the edit menu item.
