Comments

Add free-text remarks to devices for additional context that doesn't fit structured fields. Comments support up to 200 characters per device and are displayed with a yellow background for quick visibility.

tip

For searchable, filterable labels, use Tags instead — they appear in the Dashboard charts and the Tags filter chip, while comments are free text with no aggregation.

Enable comments

Comments are opt-in at the tenant level.

  1. Go to Settings → Devices → General.
  2. Turn on the Device comments toggle.

Enable Device comments toggle

When the toggle is off, the comment area is hidden everywhere but existing comments are preserved — turning it back on makes them visible again.

Add a comment

On an existing device (inline)

  1. Navigate to Devices and click the device you want to annotate.
  2. In the right-side information panel, click the Add a comment... field (highlighted in yellow).
  3. Type your text (up to 200 characters).
  4. Click anywhere outside the field — the comment is saved automatically.

info

Comments are free-text and not searchable via the global search bar or the filter chips. If you need to filter devices by an attribute (e.g., "all loaner laptops"), use Tags.
