Assign a category to a new device

After creating at least one category, you can assign it during the new device creation process.

When adding a new device, select a category from the drop-down menu next to the serial number field. If the selected category has metadata, the metadata fields appear below the category along with any configured prefix and suffix values. Enter the appropriate data based on each field's data type.

Modify the category of an existing device

To change the category of a device that already exists:

1. Navigate to Devices in the sidebar.

2. Click the desired device.

3. In the information panel on the right, click Edit below the device name.

4. On the Edit Device page, select a new category from the Category drop-down menu.

5. Click Save in the top-right corner to apply the change.
