Delete a Category Attribute

Remove a single attribute (CPU, RAM, IMEI…) from a category without deleting the category itself.

The attribute's values are permanently removed from every device in this category. The action cannot be undone — if you re-add the attribute later, devices start with empty values.

Steps

1. Click Categories in the sidebar.
2. Select the category tile you want to edit.
3. Click the pencil icon in the top-right of the detail pane to open the edit view.
4. Click the red ✕ next to the attribute row you want to remove.
5. Click Save to apply.

You can delete attributes one at a time — there is no bulk-remove control.

What gets affected

Field on devices in this category	Effect
The deleted attribute's value	Removed from every device in the category.
Other attributes on the same category	Untouched.
Device name, status, assignment, history	Untouched. The device history records that the attribute was removed at the category level.
Other categories	Untouched — attributes live on a single category and aren't shared.

When to delete versus keep

Deletion is the right call when the attribute is genuinely obsolete (e.g., the 3.5mm jack attribute on a laptop category once nobody buys laptops with them). For attributes that might be useful again, consider renaming or marking them optional instead — the values stay intact while you decide.
